Commercial Burglary Arrest – Vista

On Sunday, September 18th, at about 2:30 AM, Deputies from the Vista Station responded to a commercial burglary in progress in the 800 block of Sycamore Avenue in the City of Vista. Employees were monitoring the burglars over surveillance video and provided deputies updates as they responded to the locaiton.

Deputies arrived on scene and began checking the area with the assistance of a K9 unit from the Escondido Police Department. While checking the area, the deputies located Richard Wells, near the entrance. An additional search of the area located an additional suspect, Robert Lund, in an area outside of the building. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

After detaining both men, it was discovered the rear door of the business had been broken into, the electrical system tampered with, and multiple items had been loaded into a cart which was staged to be taken.

Wells and Lund were both placed under arrest and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on felony Burglary charges. The investigation is ongoing in order to determine if either are linked to any other burglaries in the North County.
