Two Killed in Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Traffic Collision

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, at 8:37 pm, Oceanside Police responded to a vehicle collision near the 1800 block of Oceanside Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found two adult pedestrians had been struck in the roadway by a vehicle traveling Eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard. Officers attempted life-saving measures but both pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene. Oceanside Boulevard was closed from Goat Hill Drive to Interstate 5 for several hours to allow for an investigation.

Based on witness statements and physical evidence, the preliminary investigation indicates the male and female adult pedestrians were crossing Oceanside Boulevard when a vehicle traveling Eastbound struck both pedestrians in the middle of the roadway. The motorist immediately stopped and offered cooperation in the investigation. Impairment and speed are not believed to be a factor in this collision. The names of the deceased have not been released pending family notifications.

The Oceanside Police Department offers condolences to all impacted by this tragic accident and urges pedestrians and drivers to follow all traffic-control signals. We also urge pedestrians to only cross the road in designated crosswalks.
