December Youth Enrichment Services Meeting Hears from a Variety of Local and County Assistance Agencies

The December meeting of the Youth Enrichment Services organization heard from representatives of the Office of Equitable Communities representing the Department of Homeless Solutions and Equitable Communities and then took part in a Campus Community Resource Fair. The meeting took place in the Carlsbad Community and Senior Center.
Sarah Garlejo, Community Health Promotion Specialist spoke about a new County system dealing with family well-being and child welfare. The County of San Diego is trying to integrate and create a new department within the Child Welfare Services to better support children and families. She spoke about the Families First Prevention Services Act and how this will work with the proposed program.
Following the presentation, the group adjourned to the Campus Community Connect Resources Fair to visit with representatives from several services and agencies providing assistance for different programs, resources, and groups throughout the San Diego County area.
