Extends San Diego Stay at the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ Wyland Center through May 7; Introduces offer for 6th grade students to attend FREE with adult paid admission.
WHAT: Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience, a new exhibition developed in partnership with the National Geographic Society, has extended its run at the Wyland Center at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for an additional six weeks, through May 7, by popular demand.
For the remainder of the run, Beyond King Tut is welcoming sixth grade students in San Diego to the exhibition FREE of charge when visiting with an adult with a paid admission. Already this year and aligned to school curriculum, the San Diego County Office of Education made it possible for more than 1,400 sixth-grade students to attend Beyond King Tut.
This year’s must-see exhibition whisks guests on a multi-sensory journey through nine galleries that tell the story of the boy king and his world, and the thrill of one of the greatest discoveries of all time – the king’s tomb with all its treasures inside – with dazzling imagery presented larger than life throughout the experience.

WHY: Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience commemorates the 100th anniversary of one of the greatest archeological discoveries of all time and takes visitors on a time-traveling journey flooded with sight, sound and intrigue through the world of King Tut—the boy who reigned as pharaoh of Egypt more than 3,000 years ago—and the discovery of his tomb and treasures. Visitors wind through a unique narrative with stunning imagery from the archives of National Geographic to learn more about this 3,000-year-old, yet timeless, story about a young boy and how he changed the ancient — and modern – world.
