We are pleased to welcome five new Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to Escondido Fire Department. Welcome Michael Roche, Joel Layman, Luke Sheyda, Christopher McCormick and Brenda Bartlett.
On March 18, 2023, at approximately 5:54 a.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a structure fire in the area of the 1700 block of Sheridan Avenue. While responding, several fire units reported a large smoke column from a distance. The first arriving Engine Captain found a single story, detached garage ADU (converted to living space) with a large amount of smoke and fire through the attic. Fortunately, the occupants were able to get out of the structure. Firefighters fully contained and controlled the fire in approximately 45minutes. The home sustained extensive fire damage throughout the dwelling. There were no injuries to firefighters, however, one civilian sustained minor smoke inhalation and was evaluated by Paramedics.
