Oceanside Police Make Arrest – Shooting Suspect

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 10:06 pm, Oceanside Police responded to a shooting call near the 3500 block of College Boulevard in Oceanside. A thirty-one-year-old female was located suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital, treated for her injury, and released. An extensive search was conducted for the suspect but met with negative results.

This morning at 9:28 am, an Oceanside Police Officer spotted the suspect near the 3300 block of College Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. Officers detained the suspect without further incident and recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting and an e-bike matching the description of the one the suspect was seen fleeing with following the shooting. Thirty-two-year-old Suspect Jesus Castaneda, of Oceanside, was arrested and booked for 245(a)(2) pc, assault with a firearm.
