Escondido’s Public Works Partners with Girl Scout Troop

With the help of Girl Scout Troop 2080, the City of Escondido’s Public Works Department recently completed a new crosswalk at the corner of North Avenue and Broadway. The Troop approached the Traffic Commission and proposed a new school crosswalk as an increased safety measure for children in the area. Once approved, Public Works prioritized the plan and were able to implement the crosswalk before school let out, allowing the Troop to utilize the new safety crossing. The Troop was so excited that they met to celebrate with their favorite treat, Peterson’s Donuts, and use the crosswalk. The girls couldn’t stop smiling and saying “We did this!”, and they have already noticed residents stopping and waiting for children to cross this morning. Partnerships like these make this an amazing community to live in!
