Two Separate Fatal Crashes from early this Morning

INTERSTATE 15 AT MISSION ROAD

FALLBROOK, Calif.- Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Oceanside Area office responded to reports of a solo vehicle overturn, on southbound I-15, at Mission Road.

On Sunday, September 10, 2023, at approximately 1:33 a.m., a 32-year-old male was driving a Lexus NX350 in the southbound lanes of I-15. For reasons still under investigation, the Lexus veered to the right, off the roadway and overturned.

The California Highway Patrol and Fire/paramedics responded to the scene. Unfortunately, both the driver of the Lexus and a 28-year-old female passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. It is not yet known if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the cause of this collision. The identity of both the driver and passenger will be released through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and the CHP is asking anyone who has information or may have witnessed this incident to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at (760) 643-3400.

INTERSTATE 5 AT OCEANSIDE BLVD

OCEANSIDE, Calif.- Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Oceanside Area office responded to reports of a solo vehicle crash, on northbound I-5, at Oceanside Boulevard.

On Sunday, September 10, 2023, at approximately 2:28 a.m., an unknown male was driving a Hyundai Sonata in the northbound lanes of I-5. For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai veered to the right, off the roadway and collided into an Eucalyptus tree.

The California Highway Patrol, Oceanside Police Department and Oceanside Fire/paramedics responded to the scene. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is not yet known if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the cause of this collision. The identity of the driver will be released through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
