On 11/18/23, at about 11:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 1200 block of Palomar Place in Vista, reference a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they discovered two male victims with stab wounds. Medical aid was provided, but one victim succumbed to his injuries on scene and was pronounced deceased. The second victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The deceased victim has been identified as 31-year-old Anthony Leal. Leal was a resident of Escondido. The second victim has been identified as 31-year-old Adan Salazar. Salazar is a resident of Vista.
Sheriff’s Homicide detectives conducted an investigation and today arrested 30-year-old Daniel Rosas for 187(a) PC – Murder 664/187(a) PC – Attempt Murder. Rosas is a resident of Vista.
At this stage of the investigation, the nature of the relationship between Rosas and the victims is unclear. The motivation and circumstances of the stabbing are still under investigation.
