26 Drivers Cited at Oceanside DUI Checkpoint

Oceanside, Calif. – On January 5th, 26 Drivers were cited at a Checkpoint conducted by the Oceanside Police Department. The DUI checkpoint was held in the 3500 block of Oceanside Blvd from 6pm to midnight.
25 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, and one was cited for having an open container of alcohol. 1347 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 461 of those vehicles were contacted. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
