SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Edwyn Collins from Cal State San Marcos has been voted the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 8-14.
Collins averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals to lead the Cougars to two crucial road wins which moved CSUSM to within one game of first place in the CCAA standings.
In Thursday’s game against No. 22 Cal State San Bernardino (11-4), Collins came close to recording the CCAA’s first triple-double since 2017-18 (Ty Davis, STAN). The senior guard scored 26 points (11-of-21), grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out eight assists. He added a block and two steals.
Saturday on the road, he scored 15 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists. He shot at least 50 percent in both games.
Collins ranks fourth in the conference with 14.7 points and is third with 1.93 steals. The Moreno Valley native also ranks second in assist/turnover ratio (1.48) and seventh in field-goal percentage (.455). Click here to see the CCAA leaderboard.

The Cougars will be at home this week to host San Francisco State on Thursday (Jan. 18) and Cal State East Bay on Saturday (Jan. 20).
