At the City Council meeting on March 12, 2024 Council-member Joe Green introduced the policy which would allow legal cannabis consumption and sale on private property. The consumption and sale would occur at special events through a temporary use permit approved by city staff and “The Department Of Cannabis Control”. The item passed Unanimously, instructing staff to bring back a policy that would line up with Measure Z voter initiative guidelines while allowing cannabis consumption & sales at private property events. The final policy should be back in front of Council for approval by the middle or end of June, which will allow these events to take place in the City of Vista before the end of the year. There were over 30 adds to packet in support of this item and 13 speakers on the record both pro and con in council chambers.
