Escondido Creek Conservancy’s ‘Stunning’ Preserve

ESCONDIDO — For the first time in decades, the public will have access to one of the region’s most majestic landscapes.

The Escondido Creek Conservancy is hosting a family-friendly Outdoor Education Elevated fundraiser at the Mountain Meadow Preserve from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday (April 13 is the date contingency date for weather). Included with tickets are guided hikes, children’s stations, a raptor presentation, live animals, nature journaling and a silent auction, to name a few activities, according to ECC Education Director Ariel Reed.

The preserve, which is part of 3,000 acres owned and maintained by the conservancy, showcases incredible vistas, dramatic boulders and views of several mountains from the nonprofit’s Mountain Meadows headquarters. The conservancy’s new onsite building will also be available for tour, ECC Executive Director Ann Van Leer said. Shuttles will be provided as parking is recommended at the park-and-ride off Interstate 15 and Mountain Meadow Road.
