Vista Home Fire 1256 Eucalyptus Avenue

The information in this report was received from the Vista Fire Department

The fire call came in at 5:41 pm and the incident location was 1256 Eucalyptus Avenue in the City of Vista. This call was dispatched as a residential fire. The original call said there was an explosion in a garage and the house was on fire. The fire is still under investigation. It went to a working fire, which means they added additional resources knowing that it was going to be a working fire. It spread relatively quickly. The first unit arrived on scene about six minutes after call was received. This was a residential house with a fully involved garage and it was a defensive fire where there were wires down in the street. Shortly thereafter a second alarm was asked for. Everyone had been removed from the house and it was sprayed with water from three sides of the building, the front and the two sides of the building where an aerial ladder was put up where the call was to surround and drown.

There were no injuries. The property owner was there. Fire trucks came from Vista, San Marcos, Oceanside and Carlsbad. We released several firefighters about 8:00pm. There were too many hotspots so the building could not be entered. The property and building were a total loss. The loss of the property was approximately from 1 Million to 1.3 Million.

The fire investigators were on the scene last night but the area was unsafe. They received permission to go back in the morning today, April 17, 2024. The gas and electric company also came and the utilities were turned off.
