Attempted Home Invasion-Homicide

On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 1922 hours, officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 4100 block of Diamond Circle. The residents were home when an unknown suspect entered their backyard armed with a rock and a stick. The suspect entered the residence through a bedroom slider door. A female occupant was inside the bedroom when the suspect entered the residence. The suspect threw the rock at a male resident of the home, striking him in the face. The male resident retrieved a firearm and shot the suspect. Officers were dispatched and arrived on scene, along with Oceanside Fire Department personnel. Despite attempted life saving measures, the suspect succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Oceanside Police, Crimes of Violence Unit responded to the scene to take the lead on this investigation. The names of the parties involved in this investigation will not be released at this time.
