The project that extends Citracado Parkway from Andreasen Drive to Harmony Grove Village Parkway with a new bridge over Escondido Creek has been completed and staff held a ribbon cutting event this week to celebrate the completion of this major infrastructure.
This project represents a major step forward in enhancing safety, connectivity, and overall quality of life for Escondido. By improving traffic flow and reducing congestion, it is now easier for our community members to get to work, school, and essential services. Additionally, the enhanced infrastructure will benefit our emergency responders, ensuring quicker response times in critical situations.
• This project had many partners, including: o State, local, and permitting agencies whose support was instrumental in making this project a reality.
o Palomar Health invested $13+ million in our City’s infrastructure.
o Rincon Del Diablo Municipal Water District for partnering with the City, providing funding and expertise to ensure water resources to the area.
• The City thanks the local Native American tribes for their assistance, contributions, patience, and understanding during construction.
o Specifically, the participation of Kumeyaay and Luiseno tribal representatives in this project since 2012, and in particular, Mr. Clint Linton of Red Tail Environmental Services representing the Kumeyaay and Cami Mojado of Saving Sacred Sites representing the Luiseno.
This project represents the successful coordination and participation of state, federal, and local entities. It is complete today because of a multitude of funding sources, including a Local Partnership Program grant, TransNet, Traffic Impact Fees, and the generous contribution from Palomar Health.
