𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗨𝗜

Last night at approximately 11:08 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of a major injury collision westbound SR – 76, just east of Loretta Street. A BMW sedan driven by Dejuan Jones, a 20-year-old Oceanside resident, lost control of his vehicle and rolled over.

His passenger was a 22-year-old male Oceanside resident, who was ejected from the vehicle and suffered major injuries, including head trauma. The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital and later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld, pending next of kin notification.

Jones was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was taken into custody and booked into the Vista Detention Facility, facing charges of Gross Vehicular Manslaughter and other DUI related charges.

The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting the investigation and encourages anyone with information regarding this collision to contact Officer Kevin Lissner at (760)435 –4651.
