City of Oceanside and partners are celebrating the opening of a beautiful new integrated supportive housing project, Greenbrier Village. The new facility has 59 units with permanent supportive onsite services for homeless or at-risk of being homeless individuals.

Oceanside’s Measure X-funded social workers coordinated many of the clients in placement and assisted them on moving day

50 apartments were reserved for individuals experiencing homelessness, including five for veterans, and three for young adults aging out of foster care. Nine apartments serve residents with extremely low incomes. One apartment is occupied by a manager.

Onsite case management services include care coordination, mental, physical, and behavioral health services and employment development to help residents maintain housing stability. Services are managed by local providers such as the Hope through Housing Foundation, the County of San Diego Behavioral Health Services, and the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

The project, located near the Crouch Street SPRINTER Station on Greenbrier Drive
includes case management offices on the ground floor, recreational amenities, a central courtyard with an outdoor terrace and barbecue area, a community garden, and laundry facilities.

It took a team of agencies working together to make Greenbrier Village a reality, from local and state governments to public, private, and community-based organizations. National Community Renaissance and San Diego Community Housing Corporation spearheaded this important project. Funding partners include the City of Oceanside, San Diego County No Place Like Home Program, Hudson Housing Capital, and JP Morgan Chase Bank.

This project joins other essential elements in Oceanside’s fight to diminish homelessness: Oceanside’s permanent year-round shelter, the Oceanside Navigation Center, which opened in July 2023, Measure X-funded Bridge Housing, two Homeless Outreach Teams that travel with social workers, and a myriad of other programs and resources to prevent and end homelessness.
