Army and Navy Academy Named to Advance Placement School Honor Roll

Carlsbad, CA – College Board announced that Army and Navy Academy has been named to the Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning a Gold level distinction.

The AP® School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

Army and Navy Academy had 75% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 38% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 12% of seniors who took five or more AP exams! The Academy offers 15 AP courses over 18 sections taught by 11 different instructors.

Interim Dean of Academics, Amy Coe, shared, “We are so incredibly proud of our Cadets many of whom stretched beyond what they thought they were capable of, to take and be successful in Advanced Placement courses. The skills and confidence they gained by taking these courses and pushing themselves to be better in all aspects of their education will serve them well into the future.”

“AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.”
