Oceanside, CA – On Wednesday February 26, 2020 at 1618 hours, the Oceanside Police Department responded to a collision involving a bicycle and vehicle on State Route 76 at Old Grove. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying in the westbound lanes of State Route 76 in the intersection. The male bicyclist was attended to by paramedics and officers and was transported to the hospital with a serious head injury. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was uninjured.
Based on witness statements and physical evidence at the scene, a 2019 Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on State Route 76 and entered the intersection on a green light. The bicyclist also entered the intersection from another direction on a red light and collided with the SUV. At the time of this release there is no update to the condition of the bicyclist. Alcohol or drugs is not a factor in this collision.
