Oceanside, CA (May 1, 2024) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside have served the community with impactful educational programming for over 72 years. As advocates for year-round learning, we are excited to announce our fun and innovative summer program, “Passport to Adventure,” designed to provide children in our community with opportunities for growth, exploration, and learning. This program is made possible by a generous grant from San Diego Foundation. Thanks to their support, we will offer a diverse range of activities, including STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Math) programs, as well as various enrichment, recreational, and career empowerment activities.
This grant comes as a collaborative effort to prevent the dreaded summer slide, which poses a critical threat to the academic progress of students, particularly those from underserved communities. Research shows that during the summer break, students can lose up to two months of grade-level equivalency in math and reading skills. By participating in a summer program, students not only prevent the summer slide but also have the opportunity to start the new school year with an advantage, setting them up for success ahead.
“We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and creatively, regardless of the season,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside. “Through ‘Passport to Adventure,’ we are excited to ignite the spark of curiosity in young minds and provide a supportive environment where children can discover, grow, and have fun.”
“Passport to Adventure” Summer Camp starts June 10th and runs through August 9th. Camp will provide more than just an enriching STREAM program. Students will go on field trips, engage in hands-on activities, and enjoy home-made and nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable summer journey filled with adventure, exploration, and endless fun!
