Burger Bench Coming to Downtown Historic Vista

By TR Robertson
Burger Bench will soon open their second location in North County, this time in Downtown Historic Vista, complimenting their first location on Grand Ave. in downtown Escondido. The family-owned eatery opened in 2015, in Escondido, taking over the former Escondido Times Advocate Newspaper Building, built in 1924. The new Burger Bench Vista location will be at 230 Main Street, moving into the former When Pigs Fly location, and plans to open in mid-January.

Co-owners Derek Loranger and Mark Dinh have been coordinating the remodel going on inside of the restaurant on Main Street. One of the new additions includes cushioned benches that will run the length of both sides of the restaurant and will have tables and chairs added as well. Another new look to Burger Bench will be the addition of a large bar area in the center of the main eating area.

Derek said the Vista Burger Bench will have basically the same menu as the Escondido Burger Bench. He said they may add additional avocado meals to the chicken and burger selections. The menu does currently include thirteen burger and chicken sandwich meals, a variety of sliders and grilled cheese sandwich selections, such as the Brie and Fig Melt. They also offer Truffle Parmesan Fries and Tots and Beer Battered Onion Rings. For those that aren’t in the mood for burgers or chicken sandwiches there are several salad selections, including a Western Fried Chicken Salad. House Chili and House Tomato Soup is offered at the Escondido eatery and will most likely be offered at the Vista location.

Burger Bench is known for featuring San Diego and local craft beers and Derek said that will continue at the Vista location. With the number of craft breweries in the Vista area there should be quite a selection to choose from. At the Escondido location over 20 craft beers are featured. Another Burger Bench specialty is the Milk Shakes they serve, such as Salted Carmel Pretzel, Strawberry Banana, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana. Also on the menu are Root Beer Floats and Beer Floats.

Derek said they plan on being open seven days a week from 11:30 AM until 9 PM Monday through Thursday and Sunday and open until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday. He also said they may offer breakfasts, like the Escondido Burger Bench, once they are established in Vista.

The addition of Burger Bench in Downtown Historic Vista will offer an additional great choice for a lunch or dinner option in the downtown area. Go to www.burgerbench.com for more information.
