California Against Slavery Asking for Support

Louisiana State Legislature has a bill before committee this week that would fully decriminalize prostitution. Our national partners supporting The Equality Model US are calling for letters in opposition of Louisiana HB67 which would remove any constraints to the industry of prostitution.

As many of you are aware, The Equality Model US is designed to decriminalize ONLY those exploited- the prostituted and trafficked, support those seeking to exit the sex trade, and STILL hold accountable the pimps, brothel owners and buyers- the exploiters!

In the three countries have fully decriminalized prostitution- Germany, New Zealand and the Netherlands- the demand for prostitution has increased, sex trafficking to meet that demand has increased, and violence in the sex industry has increased (EqualityModelUS, 2021).

While the intent of the Louisiana legislature may be to protect those in the sex trade, sex trafficking survivors and advocates were not meaningfully consulted in the drafting of HB67 despite their first-hand knowledge of forms of exploitation and violence that are present in the sex trade.

How can you protect if you don’t really understand the environment and the impact? We have learned to listen to survivors! Please consider responding to their call for support… by opposing LA HB 67.
Support Survivors… Oppose LA HB67
