In response to a more than 200% increase in bike and e-bike collisions since 2019, the City of Carlsbad declared a state of emergency on traffic safety and allocated $2 million specifically for immediate emergency actions.

A school education program was one of the top requests from the Carlsbad community.

The city has partnered with the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition to provide training to all middle and high schools in the city
