Poor drainage has long haunted State Street making the aftermath of a rainstorm a bit treacherous for business owners, diners, and shoppers. And, it made hosting the weekly Farmers’ Market very tricky to say the least. Thanks to the City of Carlsbad, State Street is currently undergoing a drainage repair project that will replace old drain pipes with new ones, level the street, make curb repairs, and more. It will also be repaved and re-striped. The project was able to start on time, March 30th, despite the current COVID-19 crisis, with construction crews trying to accelerate the project completion date by working longer hours and some Saturdays as well. As they say, timing is everything, and now seems the best time for a repair project of this magnitude. We all look forward to a much improved State Street when the Village gets back to business.
