The City of Carlsbad is on track to achieve the goals outlined in its Climate Action Plan, including meeting statewide greenhouse gas emission targets by 2035. The report given to the City Council on April 13 outlined 18 months of Climate Action Plan activities and actions that reduce emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and water vapor.
Highlights include:
Added the Clean Energy Alliance, Carlsbad’s community choice energy program as a new GHG reduction measure.
Installed an electrical vehicle charging station at Aviara, purchased 22 hybrid police vehicles and began exploring other energy efficiency retrofits.
Launched the Carlsbad Green Business Network to support local small-to-medium businesses with sustainability programs.
