CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Carlsbad Police Department and the Carlsbad Unified School District are aware of a recent incident involving a physical altercation between juveniles at Poinsettia Park that has been circulating on social media.
The Carlsbad Police Department became aware of the incident and officers immediately began working with school officials reviewing the circumstances surrounding what occurred. A police report has been taken and the department is actively investigating the incident. Detectives are continuing to work closely with school officials as well as parents of the juveniles as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Carlsbad Police Department and Carlsbad Unified School District take incidents involving accusations of bullying, harassment, and discriminatory language that may be deemed as a hate crime seriously. We are committed to ensuring all members of our community, especially students, feel safe and respected.
Because the individuals involved are juveniles, and due to student privacy laws, additional details cannot be released at this time.
