Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) has officially launched in the City of Vista! As of April 1, CEA’s service began, providing residents and local businesses with clean energy choices at competitive rates. To commemorate the program’s launch, CEA will be participating in an event at the City of Vista’s upcoming City Council Meeting on April 9 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Vista Civic Center Council Chambers (2nd floor) at 200 Civic Center Drive.
“I encourage all of our Vista residents and business owners to join us in celebrating this milestone in our community’s pursuit of a sustainable future by attending this special event,” said CEA Vice Chair and Vista Deputy Mayor Katie Melendez. “It is also a great opportunity for members of our community to learn more about the many benefits CEA will provide for us moving forward.”
While the City Council Meeting does not begin until 5:30 p.m., CEA will be on site well ahead of time. From 3 – 5 p.m. CEA staff will be on site and available outside of the Council Chambers to provide information and answer questions about CEA. CEA encourages residents to attend as we “flip the switch” in recognition of Vista’s commitment to a future powered by clean energy. Come meet CEA staff, learn about Vista’s new power provider and celebrate the program launch.
Vista residents were automatically enrolled in Clean Impact Plus, which provides 50% renewable and 75% carbon-free energy. They are also able to opt up to Green Impact (100% renewable energy), opt down to Clean Impact (50% renewable energy) or opt out to remain with SDG&E as their energy provider. All customers will continue to have SDG&E as their energy transmission and distribution provider.

CEA is a public, not-for-profit entity and an alternative to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) for power generation. On April 1, the Cities of Oceanside and Vista became the newest members of CEA, joining Carlsbad, Del Mar, Escondido, San Marcos and Solana Beach in providing cleaner energy to their residents and businesses. Across the member cities, CEA replaces SDG&E as the entity responsible for purchasing power from energy providers. SDG&E continues to deliver this energy to homes and businesses, and continues to handle all energy billing. Customers from Oceanside and Vista will continue to receive one bill from SDG&E for all energy services, including CEA’s charges for power generation.
