County Supported Program Bringing Fresh Produce to Corner Stores

Fresh fruits and vegetables are arriving weekly at neighborhood convenience stores like corner markets and liquor stores thanks to a County-supported program.

Brightside Produce is funded in part by the County’s San Diego Racial and Ethnic Approach to Community Health (SD REACH) program which is administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The program makes affordable produce more readily available to residents in communities lacking access to full-service grocery stores. By bringing these products closer to where people live and work, the program aims to reduce the rates of food insecurity and make communities healthier.
