Crime Down in Oceanside for 4th Consecutive Year

2019 crime in Oceanside was down for the 4th consecutive year, and was the lowest in ten years. Gang-motivated crime reached its lowest level since it began being tracked in 2003. 200 guns were destroyed. 442 pounds of unused prescription drugs were collected and destroyed. 21 youth were mentored through the Oceanside Youth Partnership Program. 772 illegal encampments were removed, 12 homeless people were housed; 24 were sheltered; and 19 were enrolled in recovery services by the Homeless Outreach Teams (HOT). Over 68,000 9-1-1 calls were answered by Dispatch. The Senior Volunteer Patrol made over 4,000 checks on elderly citizens in 2019.
