SAN MARCOS — The booming sound coming from the city since January is thanks to the red-hot start by the California State University San Marcos softball and baseball teams.
The softball team has raced out to an 18-1 start and the school’s first-ever No. 1 ranking since ascending to Division II several years ago, while their counterparts on the diamond have battered opponents en route to a 9-2 start and a No. 4 West Regional ranking. And this weekend, both clubs host four-game sets.
