A woman is facing felony charges following a deadly crash in Del Mar.
It happened on Tuesday, June 18 just before midnight in the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard.
Deputies with the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded and found a 2019 Maserati Gran Turismo had crashed into a tree and a parked Dodge Ram. They found a 62-year-old man in the passenger seat of the Turismo and provided life-saving measures at the scene. Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries. No bystanders were hurt and no one was inside the Dodge at the time of the crash.
The County Medical Examiner’s Office will make a positive identification of the passenger, as well as determine cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.
During the preliminary investigation, deputies learned the Maserati was driving north on Coast Boulevard when it left the road, struck a parked car and collided with a tree. The driver left the scene and was later arrested. She was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of injuries she sustained in the crash.
Elizabeth Brooks- Fratus (DOB: 8/16/1971) will be booked at Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and DUI related charges.

Choque mortal – Del Mar
Hombre muere en accidente por conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol.
Una mujer enfrenta cargos por delitos graves luego de un accidente mortal en Del Mar.
Ocurrió el martes 18 de junio justo antes de la medianoche en la cuadra 2000 de Coast Boulevard.
Los agentes de la estación del alguacil de la costa norte respondieron y encontraron que un Maserati Gran Turismo 2019 se habÃa estrellado contra un árbol y una Dodge Ram estacionada. Encontraron a un hombre de 62 años en el asiento del pasajero del Turismo y proporcionaron medidas para salvarle la vida en el lugar. Los paramédicos llevaron al hombre al hospital, pero más tarde murió a causa de sus heridas. Ningún transeúnte resultó herido y nadie estaba dentro del Dodge en el momento del accidente.
La Oficina del Médico Forense del Condado hará una identificación positiva del pasajero, asà como determinará la causa y la forma de la muerte hasta que se notifique a su familia.
Durante la investigación preliminar, los agentes se enteraron de que el Maserati conducÃa hacia el norte por Coast Boulevard cuando se salió de la carretera, golpeó un automóvil estacionado y chocó contra un árbol. El conductor abandonó el lugar y luego fue arrestado. Fue llevada al Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla para recibir tratamiento por las lesiones que sufrió en el accidente.
Será fichada en el Centro de Detención y Reingreso de Las Colinas por delitos graves de atropello y fuga, homicidio vehicular y cargos relacionados con DUI.
