On Wednesday, August 20th, at approximately 3:23 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station responded to a head-on vehicle collision at the intersection of Cox Road and Mulberry Drive in the city of San Marcos.
A Nissan minivan, driven by 42-year-old Manuel Villanueva (DOB: 09/26/1982), collided head-on with a Lexus sedan driven by a 22-year-old male, after sideswiping another vehicle Villanueva was attempting to pass, according to witnesses. The 22-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Villanueva remained at the scene and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and reckless driving.
The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is handling the collision investigation.
