ESCONDIDO — One of the biggest political battles is ramping up as Proposition 50 heads to the ballot on Nov. 4.

On Wednesday, the Escondido City Council voted 4-1 to formally adopt a resolution to oppose Prop. 50. Consuelo Martinez, the lone Democrat on the council, voted against the resolution, stating the council should not be involved, among other reasons.

The proposition, known as the Election Rigging Response Act, was quickly approved by Democrats in the State Legislature to counter other mid-cycle redistricting efforts
