Oven Fire
On February 10, the Escondido Police & Fire Communication Center received a call about a
structure fire on Rock Springs Rd. Fire crews were dispatched to the location and found an oven producing a large amount of smoke, due to a fire being extinguished prior to arrival. Crews worked to then remove smoke from the residence. SDG&E also responded to the call to further ensure that the residents were able to remain in the home.
Close to Home
On February 12, fire crews were dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire on Hypoint Ave. The first arriving Engine Company found a large pile of debris burning next to the side of a two-story home and a vehicle. Firefighters worked swiftly to extinguish the fire. No one was injured and there was minimal damage to the structure and the vehicle. Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Gas Leak
Also, on February 12, fire crews were dispatched to a reported natural gas leak on Castle Glen Drive. Upon arrival, crews discovered a residential gas line was broken and leaking. An SDG&E representative was already on scene. Per recommendation from SDG&E, fire crews assisted in evacuating residents from 4 nearby homes. SDG&E worked quickly to control the flow of gas and mitigate the issue. Residents were able to return to their homes in less than one hour.
