On September 6, the Fire Department responded with a full commercial structure fire response to a reported fire on the roof at Grace Lutheran School on West 13th Street. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire in an air-conditioning unit on the roof. Crews quickly laddered the building and extinguished the fire.
On September 6, the Brush Engine at Station #3 was dispatched for mutual aid assistance to a vegetation fire in Rainbow. The engine crew assisted throughout the day and was assigned to night shift, they were released and returned home at noon the next day.
On September 7, firefighters responded to the area of W. Valley Parkway and extinguished a small outdoor fire near Men’s Wearhouse.
On September 9, Engineer Dom Polito and Firefighter Paramedic Ricky Tlapala returned from a two-week PIO assignment at the Caldor Fire near South Lake Tahoe.
On September 11, firefighters and paramedics responded to a heat related emergency on a trail at Daily Ranch. This incident is a good reminder of the potential for outdoor heat related injuries or illness during the warm late summer and fall weather.
