Beginning February 14, Escondido Fire hosted the first of six multi-agency large scale MCI (Multi Casualty Incident) training events at Fire Station #1. This drill prepares responders for large scale disasters with many patients with various injuries. Over 14 fire agencies from North San Diego County participated in the training with live role players. This drill simulated an accident involving one of Escondido Unified School District’s new fully electric school busses. In addition to the drill, firefighters were able to receive valuable orientation training regarding the large electric vehicle.
On February 16, the annual “Love Your Heart” event was held throughout San Diego County to promote heart health and the importance of knowing and controlling blood pressure. Firefighters and Support Volunteers from Escondido Fire were on hand at the Escondido Senior Center to check blood pressures and provide heart health information.
