A few weeks ago, Escondido Firefighters volunteered their off-duty time to collect donations for the San Diego County Burn Institute at two intersections in Escondido. The generous donations from our community totaled $10,500. A signature Burn Institute program that is supported by donations is Camp Beyond the Scars, an annual camp for young burn survivors. This year, part of the camp will be virtual, so each camper receives a box full of supplies and treats.
