Guns and Hoses
The police department teamed up with the fire department again to host the Guns and Hoses event. The participants either won or purchased their tickets through a variety of fund-raising events throughout the year. They started their morning at the EPD range, where they were given a gun safety class and then got to shoot a variety of weapons. Later they headed to police and fire headquarters for some delicious sandwiches. Afterwards, they went to enjoy their afternoon with members of the fire department.
Domestic Violence
Last week, officers were called to a residence because of a domestic violence situation that was occurring. The officers discovered that the man at the residence was currently out on bail for a previous domestic violence incident. There was also a temporary restraining order against the man, protecting the woman that lived there. Officers arrived and had to force the door open because no one would answer. The woman was home and came out when the officers forced in the front door. She admitted a fight had occurred with her boyfriend and she had injuries. The man was found hidden in a closet and he was arrested. Unfortunately, these types of calls are too common and dangerous for the victims and the officers.
Fire and Water Expo
Officers from the traffic unit and analysts from the forensic science unit attended the Fire and Water Expo at Kit Carson Park. Thanks to the Fire Department and Rincon del Diablo Fire District for hosting the event. There was lots of information on safety plans and preparedness.
