Local Escondido teen, turned boxing phenomenon, Sammy Leon, age 15, will be representing San Diego at the California Silver Gloves State Championships in the 15 yr old, 154 lb division. If he wins, he will advance to the National Silver Gloves Championship and be ranked in the top 10 in the nation, depending on where he finishes in that tournament!!!
Sammy, who trains at the North County MMA Fight Club ( www,ncescondidomma.com ) is born and raised in Escondido. He has been advancing in boxing, and this year won the Gene Lewis Novice National Championship 2021 and attends San Pasqual High School as a sophomore. His hard work and dedication has brought him notoriety in a sport that has been instrumental in getting kids off the streets and into productive programs. Sammy is a true example of a young man who is trying his best and succeeding and is a role model for so many young people.
Sammy is representing San Diego in the California State Championships which is a huge accomplishment! A homegrown young man from Escondido has proven himself to be a talented athlete with a great future.
The Tournament will be held Sat. Dec. 18 – Sun. Dec 19th in Compton, CA.
