Evensong Jazz Comes to St. Michael’s By-The-Sea Church

According to Father Doran Stambaugh, “Jazz Evensong is yet one more in a long list of unexpected blessings that have emerged in the midst of this global pandemic. The purpose of St. Michael’s Jazz Evensong is not for jazz to bring people to church, but for the church to bring jazz to the people!”

The band consists of local jazz musicians, including Tom Morey, of Morey Boogie Board fame, on the drums. Joey Carano is on the guitar, Dene Davidson on Bass, Leonard Thompson on piano, and Keith Bishop is on the saxophone and flute.

“It is such a joy to sit on the lawn as the sun sets, and listen to the music, and be still,” Father Doran said.

Evensong Jazz is held every Sunday at 4pm through 2021. This free event is for the entire community. Bring a picnic dinner, low back chair, or blanket; let the kids enjoy the delightful playground. Rest assured that all Covid-19 health and safety protocols are in place. There is no need to RSVP ahead of time.
