ABOUT
Chilean-Italian conductor Paolo Bortolameolli opens his San Diego Symphony debut program with Chilean composer Miguel Farías’ brilliantly explosive Estallido. Pianist Janice Carissa also makes her San Diego Symphony debut with Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, written in the 1920s. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, “Pathétique”, completed just nine days before his death, punctuates the composer’s life with a soaring work filled with raw emotion, lush orchestration and graceful melodies.
