Suicide Prevention & Intervention Training at Oceanside Public Library

The Oceanside Public Library will be hosting two Q.P.R. Suicide Prevention & Intervention training. QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer is designed to give anyone the basic skills necessary to recognize the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. Two trainings will be offered at the Oceanside Public Library. The first training will be held on February 19 at 5:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, 330 N. Coast Highway, and the second training will be held on April 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mission Branch Library, 3861 Mission Avenue.

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper, participants will learn to: recognize warning signs of suicide; know how to offer hope; and know how to get help and save a life. These trainings are free and open to the public, as well as anyone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide: parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others.

The QPR Gatekeeper Trainings are funded by the County of San Diego HHSA, and are offered on behalf of the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council.
