Transforming Lives-Strengthening Community
Our Mission – Assistance League® North Coast is dedicated to serving the needs, primarily of children in the communities.

Last year the Assistance League of North Coast was able to give $50,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in Carlsbad, Vista and Oceanside. They also provided high school students with clothing shopping trips to JC Penney, and 124 students were able to experience realistic parenting skills with infant simulators for the realities of caring for a baby with the Chapter’s program “Baby Real Deal”. Now students and teachers are giving back to ALNC in a very special way. The organization is holding a fundraising event titled, “Enduring Stories” at the Oceanside Art Museum on March 26th and art teachers from both Oceanside and Mission Vista High Schools have enthusiastically agreed to each donate 100 4×4 “mini masterpieces” to be sold as mementos at the fundraiser. When Kriss Stewart, the philanthropic program chairperson, asked Mr. Sly at Oceanside High School if his students would like to participate and perhaps provide 25 canvases for the event, he said, “Sounds like fun, I think I could get 100. My art club would be awesome at this!”

Jane Kluck, of Mission Vista, wanted to know if the art classes at her school could donate more than 100! She also shared her own “Enduring Story”. Jane had actually received a scholarship from the Assistance League of Capistrano Valley when she graduated from Dana High School in 1998. She went on to receive a degree in Art History at UCSB and then continued on to earn her Master’s in education.

The Assistance League also provides programs for elementary and middle schools through their “Operation School Bell” Programs. Last year it gave 17,500 new books so that every elementary school child could have their own book. Just this week the last of 2,100 shoes, socks, and health kits were delivered to 30 elementary schools to complete the Footsteps program for this school year. In the month of February $3865.50 was donated by members to the 4Kids Food Bank of North County Program. The money will provide a school years’ worth of food for 644 students who participate in backpack program where the students take food home each weekend.
