The Vista Historical Society annual meeting and Hall of Fame induction will be held at the Shadowridge Country Club at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Members of the board of directors will also be installed and new Vista Hall of Fame members will be honored.
Newly elected to the Hall of Fame are Carl Ames and Carol Brady, Bill Huntalas, Darrell E. Issa, Miriam Nichols, and Rocco Valluzzi. Carl Ames and Carol Brady, husband and wife, were tireless Kiwanis volunteers working for the betterment of children. Bill Huntalas was raised on Rancho Minerva and helped build the adobe home that now houses the Vista Historical Museum. Founder of an aluminum manufacturing company, he typified the Vista pioneer spirit. Darrell E. Issa is a successful business owner, well known philanthropist, and represented California and Vista in the United States Congress for many years. Miriam Nichols was a local environmentalist, who used her skills and membership in various organizations to promote her cause. Colonel Rocco Valluzzi was a retired Marine Corps pilot who was active in local civic affairs including a term on the Vista City Council.
The annual meeting is open to Vista Historical Society & Museum members and all interested area residents.
