Fatal Traffic Collision on Rancho Santa Fe Road

Officers from the City of Carlsbad Police Department responded to Rancho Santa Fe Road north of Camino De Los Coches regarding a motorcycle that collided with the rear of a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2017 Harley Davidson Motorcycle with extensive damage resting on its side directly behind a dark colored sedan. As the officers approached the motorcycle, they found a male driver on the ground and a female passenger that had been ejected from the motorcycle a short distance away.

The Carlsbad Fire Department arrived and provided advanced life support to the female passenger of the motorcycle. The Fire Department transported both riders to an area hospital where the female passenger succumbed to injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver of the 2017 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was identified as a 30-year-old male from San Marcos. The female was identified as a 34-year-old female from San Marcos.

Traffic Officers responded to the scene to conduct a full investigation.
