“I was stuck in The Churn for the 15 years leading up to entering Solutions for Change. I had a drug problem, and I would use anything I could get my hands on. I have a 9-year old daughter, but I lost her to her father. When that happened, I went off the deep end, and tried heroine for the first time. This went on for about 2 years, until I found myself locked up in jail with a felony. This was my first time actually getting in trouble, and when I was in jail, I found out I was 6 months pregnant with my son. This news is what saved my life.”
“I was facing 20+ years for the crime I committed, but by a power much greater than myself, I was let out on bail to go to rehab, and needed 3 years of supervised probation. This means, I would not have to be separated from my son- something I could not experience again. I started crying because I was given a 2nd opportunity! I am a 3rd generation drug addict, so this was my time to break the cycle.”
“When I first heard about Solutions, I was unsure about the program, and a lot of people didn’t believe I would make it through the beginning process. But it hit me – I need 3 years of supervised probation, and this program is 2 years, so I’ll at least be good for that long! But boy, I was badly underestimating the power of Solutions.”
“For the first time in 30 years, I am safe. I don’t have to worry about someone using in the next apartment over, I trust the people who help watch my child, and kids are always outside playing, which is a sound I love! I started Servant Leadership classes, which really opened my mind. I always wanted to have standards to live by, but I didn’t know how to explain them to people. I didn’t know the gravity or depth of Servant Leadership and it spoke to my core. I believe Servant Leadership is a moral standard that everyone should be taught – in school and by their parents. I am lucky today to teach it to my son and hopefully soon teach it to my daughter.”
“I am safe and my son is safe which allows me to grow, prosper and figure out who I am. Today I have learned to play the guitar and every Friday I workout doing Zumba in the community room, so I am learning to find myself through hobbies.” – Jenesa Cazare, Solutions Academy Student/Overcomer in the Making
