Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick Recognizes Vista Fire Fighter

At the Vista Village Pub on Flag Day, June 14, 2024, The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick gathered. Part of their agenda was to recognize Battalion Chief Miles Sweeney of the Vista Fire Department. Miles was unaware that he was being acknowledged. His boss, Vista Fire Chief Washington, invited Miles to have lunch with him at the Village Pub.

The Friendly Sons is a social organization of men of Irish ancestry and affinity. The purpose of this association is to provide an opportunity for its members to meet in a spirit of comradeship for the common purpose of promoting, cultivating, celebrating and preserving interest in Irish arts, literature, history and culture. The organization is non-political and non-sectarian.

At this meeting Chief Washington was introduced and he explained his journey from Wisconsin and becoming Vistas’ Fire Chief. Then, Mike Kelley read a story of the Irish and how they became firemen and police officers when first arriving in America. He addressed this message to Miles.

If you would like to join the Sons of Saint Patrick, they meet at the Vista Village Pub at 12 Noon the 2nd Friday of the month at 224 Main Street, Vista. If you would like to learn more about Miles Sweeney click on this link.
