SDG&E crews are fixing a gas leak in the area of Mercantile and Pala Vista Drive downtown. Mercantile to Pala Vista has been closed. South Santa Fe Avenue is open; however, the public is encouraged to avoid the area if possible and plan an alternate route.
Some businesses along Mercantile and a mobile home park have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Due to the complexity of the gas grid, SDG&E reports it will take several hours to fix.
