Great Job Escondido’s Public Works Department

Great Job, Public Works!
The City of Escondido’s Public Works Department was recently challenged to come up with a solution to keep the Citracado Parkway Extension Project on track, while saving money on project costs. This is a very important project that extends Citracado Parkway from Andreasen Drive to Harmony Grove Village Parkway with a new bridge over Escondido Creek. It also adds an additional lane in the median of Citracado Parkway between Valley Parkway and Avenida del Diablo.

During construction, the power to the existing streetlights had to be redesigned and instead of leaving the street dark at night for several months, Public Works sourced solar powered streetlights from a nearby business that were removing them in favor of permanent lighting. The hard-working crews sourced the lights, reconfigured, transported and re-installed them along Citracado Parkway until new wiring upgrades can be completed. Shout out to our talented Public Works professionals for coming up with an innovative solution to ensure our resident’s safety during this incredible upgrade to the City’s transportation network!
